What Is Stars In The House?

In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, with theaters across the world closing their curtains indefinitely, SiriusXM host Seth Rudetsky and his husband, producer James Wesley Jackson, created “Stars in the House,” a live-streamed series that raised funds for Entertainment Community Fund and other organizations in need of financial support in the midst of the shutdown.

Since its first show on March 16, 2020, “Stars In The House” has raised more than $1.3 million to benefit the Entertainment Community Fund from direct donations, and over $700,000 for other charities, including the NAACP LDF, The Trevor Project, The Humane Society of New York, The WaterKeeper Alliance and many more, and has since transformed into an evergreen platform where those in marginalized communities can bring awareness to their work and raise much-needed funds to support their missions.

Episodes have included original cast reunions of Broadway shows like A Chorus Line, The Producers (with Mel Brooks!), Les Misérables, Dreamgirls in Concert, and RagtimeTV shows like Taxi, Frasier, Star Trek Voyager, Scandal, The Flash, Little House on the Prairie, Grey's AnatomyCrazy Ex-Girlfriend, and E.R.; movies like The Goodbye Girl, Night at the Museum, The Kids Are All Right, and Herculesand over 500 more episodes (and counting) which can be found on our YouTube Channel.

James and Seth have received a special Drama Desk Award, a Gotham Icon Award from the Museum of the City of New York, The Founders Award for Resilience from Cancer Support Community, Arts in Action Award from the NYC Gay Men's Chorus, and the MAC Board of Directors Award for keeping the theatre community connected, informed, and uplifted during the pandemic.  They have also received the TDF Founders Award for their philanthropic efforts championing Broadway and nonprofit theatre organizations and for their dedication to raising awareness for marginalized communities and advancing civil rights.
